The term 'aromatherapy' was coined by French chemist René-Maurice Gattefossé in 1937 when he accidentally discovered the healing potential of lavender oil while treating himself for severe burns. Hundreds of essential oils with various healing properties, uses, and effects can be used individually or in blends. Aromatherapy works through smell (sprays, streamers or diffusers) or skin absorption (mixed with carrier oils, lotions, creams, salts or masks).
Essential oil blends can be used for insomnia, joint pain, headaches, dandruff, sinus problems, and digestive concerns. Some have anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, amongst other benefits and uses. They can also enhance mood, improve concentration, and relieve depression. Blends must always be patch-tested before use.
I work with clients on customised blends for their particular needs.
